On the other hand,  Netanyahu promised him a property development project in Gaza once they got rid of the Palestinians.  I'm not sure Isreal has the resources to get rid of 2.3 million people and, at the same time, have a war against Iran.  I would assume it depends on that.  If they can,  he's in.  If it's either or, it's impossible to guess which he will choose.

No, but we're already involved in a myriad of other ways. US ships in the Mediterranean are shooting down incoming missiles and bombs. The US is providing logistical, communications and intelligence support. And of course the missiles and bombs Israel is using were largely given to them by the United States, as were the jets Israeli pilots are flying (the first sortie was comprised of 200 jets).

Iran would need to be temporary occupied by ally forces. Iran and Israel are too far apart to have a ground war, both would have to cross other counties to get each other which is very unlikely to happen.

I can't help but notice that "we are removing the Iranian nuclear program" is quickly being replaced by "we are removing the Iranian regime", probably partly because people are realizing the regime is more toothless than they thought it was, and potentially partly because they are realizing they can't reasonably end the nuclear program without removing the regime.

What happens after that? Is there a plan for what comes next? I don't think there is, because I don't think a week ago anyone was seriously considering attempting regime change. That's a scary thought, because removing the regime will either require an occupation, probably one that will result in insurgency, or result in a weak, divided, and potentially failed state that will need to be propped up, again probably by boots on the ground. If we fuck up managing that, it will end up another Iraq or Afghanistan.

There will be nasty people seeking to capitalize on this power vacuum. Like, there's literally an Islamic hadith about an army coming out of Khorasan preceding the appearance of the Mahdi (Islamic messiah). Half the country is mountains, and it is the size and population of Iraq and Afghanistan combined. If you seriously think we can just  remove their government without taking on the burden of administering the country ourselves without causing some really scary consequences, I think George Bush made a huge mistake by passing you over for a cabinet position.

It really looks to me like we have learned fucking nothing from the global war on terror.

I'm seeing a lot of conservatives who are unabashedly pissed off at the current administration for this. Historically there has been support for foreign interventionism but in light of the past 20 years, support for that stance has largely decayed. Part of the reason Trump was so popular was for rightfully calling out the failures of previous administrations and their warmongering in the middle east for the sake of regime change. His base are ardently oppositional to foreign intervention in any war, favouring a more isolationist approach seeing as America's people have only suffered without gain because foreign intervention.

Its good to see diversity of thought from Trump's own base rather than blind support. There's a good chance this will see the administration shy away from full and unconditional support because of the backlash this is getting. Incidentally, I'm also seeing a lot of frustration with Israel for starting this conflict and essentially dragging America to come clean up their mess. Support for their nation seems to be purely generational at this point, and they're bound to see struggles with diplomacy in the next 20-30 years if this trend continues.
